Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT Guitar

Beautiful sound and looks!5

I got this guitar as my beginner instrument to start getting into acoustic guitars and I think it turned out to be a really great choice. I was going to get a Seagull Original S6 but then I found one of these for basically the same price.

Just to get it out of the way wow this guitar looks fantastic! But how does it sound you say? Well since I'm just starting out I don't have a developed ear but from what I can tell it's very warm bright and layered. I noticed it sounds a tad muffled when I finger pick but that just may be how it usually is since I'm new to guitar. Also the guitar had a few oddities sound-wise when I first started playing but now those have gone away. It was probably just the change in temperature and humidity since it was cold outside when they delivered it.

The action seems really perfect; the strings are low enough to the frets to play but they don't buzz. The solid top gives the guitar a fantastic ring and I was surprised how long I could hear a note after strumming. It's got a glossy finish which looks pretty but is prone to getting fingerprints if you care about that kind of thing. I've read that this kind of finish will show scratch marks more easily than a semi-gloss or flat finish so be aware.

Anyway I'm 100% satisfied with this guitar and would definitely recommend this to others looking for a good band-for-the-buck guitar.More detail ...

Seagull Coastline Grand Guitar

Great Parlor Guitar Great Value!4

I recently decided I wanted a smaller guitar and since I own a Seagull Original S6 and am very happy with it one of the brands I looked into was Seagull. The Coastline Grand has a solid cedar top and laminated cherry back and sides like the S6 but unlike the S6 it has a narrower neck - 1.72. It's also got 14 frets above the body which I think is a big plus so I decided to go for it.

My Coastline Grand is as well made as my S6 - no surprise since Seagull offers consistently high build quality. The semi gloss finish feels good and looks nice and everything was good. True it needs a setup but I like particularly low action so every guitar I get needs a setup. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the nut width and the guitar is still very playable.

This guitar sounds especially good to me when strummed or fingerpicked softly. That's when you get the mellow cedar overtones. Played harder it's got a brighter midrangy sound that is surprisingly loud. If you don't care for that type of sound just throw a set of Silk and Steel strings on it. While some of the more expensive parlors do have more bottom end this one isn't a very bass-rich guitar but it does sound good.

The bottom line - if you're looking for a smaller guitar particularly a parlor this is a guitar you should definitely check out. Good sound build quality finish and tuners - plus customer service is good about answering emails. I'm very happy with my Seagull Coastline Grand and expect to be playing it for many years.

Seagull S6 Original Slim Guitar

The Seagull S6 Guitar--The Original But Slimmer

Winner of several awards the S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. The S6 Slim offers entry level players the opportunity to experience the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck with a more traditional nut width feel aswell as a select solid Cedar top and a Custom Polished finish.

The back and sides are constructed of wild cherry the neck of silver-leaf maple and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

Seagull guitars all feature Tusq nuts and saddles. The fully compensated saddle helps the Seagull S6 original acoustic guitar play beautifully in-tune all over the neck.

The Seagull S6 Original Slim: A Slimmer Trimmer Acoustic Guitar

Most of us think we could all use a slightly slimmer trimmer version of ourselves (especially as the holiday season comes and goes). However does this also translate to your acoustic guitar? Well why not?

Godin Guitars the Canadian manufacturer of Seagull acoustic guitars has put this idea into motion after realizing that certain players love the S6 Original but prefer a more traditional feeling nut width. So Godin made it happen.

The S6 Original Slim features a comfortable slimmer than traditional 1.72" (4.37 cm) nut width. The same nut width as its parlor sized little friend with the big sound the Seagull Grand. The Slims cream binding also helps differentiate this model from its S6 Original counterpart. The combination of the solid cedar top and wild cherry back & sides gives this guitar a full warm contoured sound further accentuated by the comfort of the silver leaf maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and double function truss rod. Another key characteristic to these guitars as with all Seagull guitars is the use of genuine lacquer finish which enables the top to breathe and vibrate freely. This in turn promotes the aging process of the guitar meaning that your instrument will actually sound better the more it is played over time.

The S6 Original Slim keeps with the same high standards of quality and musicality which has garnered the ever-popular S6 Original many accolades and awards since its early beginnings.

The Seagull Original Guitar Series

The guitars that make up the Seagull Original series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Original series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally Wild Cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Original series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

The Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build.More detail ...

All Seagull Guitars Feature Reverse Headstocks

Each Seagull neck starts out as a single piece of Mahogany or Silver Leaf Maple. The wood is cut at a 45 degree angle after which the top piece - the Headstock - is glued back on with the grain reversed. This is an essential step in the Seagull process for creating incredibly stable necks.
